What Can You Do To Attract Younger Workers and Improve Productivity
One of the most pressing problems for business owners today is the ability to recruit and retain quality employees. In a recent visit a variety of manufacturing facilities, it is amazing to learn how few companies value their current employees and refuse to rotate them to a different position during the day and to provide cross training as well.
At a recent meeting a speaker on LEAN manufacturing hit the nail on the head when he said the key is to focus on your employees and you will increase output and profits. His proven philosophy is to focus on making things Easier for your employees. If you do that they will have more time to do their job Better. Once they are doing it better they will learn how to do things Faster. If they are doing things faster it will eventually mean that they are producing products Cheaper, which will improve your bottom line.
The bottom line is that many of the millennial's that are applying for jobs are seeking employers who focus on them, and not the company. If you can make yourself a more appealing place to work you will have a chance at attracting some of the qualified employees required to make the products you are selling.
Since 1929 the WPMA has been focusing on assisting our members to be able to compete in a global economy. Helping with the employee problem is one of the most important areas for us.
