Job Duties: Manages and directs all round product raw material procurement as well as sawn and round products manufacturing facilities. Formulates and implements manufacturing policies and programs to maintain and improve the competitive position and profitability of the operations. Directs and coordinates operational activities so that products are produced on schedule and meet quality standards and cost objectives. Assures that all plants have the proper mix and inventory of round product raw materials. Maintains current market knowledge to minimize raw material acquisition costs and analyzes “make vs. buy” scenario to assure lowest cost of raw material. Ensures all plant operations are in compliance with environmental regulations. The position may require up to 50% travel. Job Requirement: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or Economics plus 15 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience working in the lumber manufacturing and wood products industry. This must include: · 10 years experience working as a Production Manager in the lumber industry · 8 years experience establishing and implementing corporate strategic initiatives that reduce cost and improve productivity. · 5 years experience hiring and training employees. Experience may be gained concurrently. *Foreign equivalent degrees and any suitable equivalent combination of education, progressive, post-baccalaureate experience, or training are acceptable. Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years experience setting up and operating Weinig moulders. Other qualifications include reading diagrams, making templates, grinding knives, and having a keen eye for quality control. Candidates must also be able to perform routine maintenance as well as trouble shoot and make repairs as needed. Wood Products Manufacturers Association PROCESS CONTROL MANAGER Southeast lumber manufacturer is seeking a process control manager for its South Carolina facility. This position will be responsible for providing technical support to mill production and mechanical maintenance to include statistical quality control, operational mapping and analysis, and optimization of product mix based on sales, market conditions, and mill capabilities. Responsibilities also involve recommendation, development, and implementation of mill-wide capital projects and direct responsibility for the process controls of the boilers and dry kilns.
